Even being paid $75,000 an episode isn’t enough to keep Lauren Conrad interested in doing MTV’s ‘The Hills’ for much long. She explains to Extra: “It’s coming to a point where I love this show so much, but I’m ready to kind of walk away. I’ve been doing it for five years now. Five years on TV is a really, really long time.”

Because five years at the same job is like, really, really long for a 22-year-old. After all, she’s doing a scripted TV gig where all you do is air kiss and make up with Heidi (or not) and ramble on vacuously about fashion!

You’d guess that Simon Cowell makes a ton of money off of “American Idol” and rightly so – it’s his baby. He’s the judge and producer and final say of what happens on the hit show. But can you imagine making $36 million (GBP11.9 million) a year for watching someone else give their all on live TV?

It sounds like his fellow judges think that’s way out of whack – consider they are taking home much smaller paychecks.

30 Rock star Tina Fey has been spoofing Alaska Governor and Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live for a couple of weeks now but she says she’ll put an end to it should McCain/Palin win the election in November.

Fey tells TV Guide: “Election time is always good for [SNL] and this is a bonkers election. And that lady is a media star. She is a fascinating person, she’s very likeable. She’s fun to play, and the two bits with Amy Poehler (as Hillary Clinton), that was super fun.”

Matt Roloff of TLC’s “Little People, Big World,” took a recent trip to Iraq to film a special episode about a family that has three children with dwarfism. Roloff learned about the Iraqi family from a pal in the military who has a child who is a little person. The TV star took a doctor with him to help with an issue the family had.

“It was life-changing,” Roloff said of the trip. “Unbelievably, life-changing. I’ve always been a proud American. I went over being very much disconnected from the whole conflict. It’s way different from the way the media is always portraying it. It was a very, very eye-opening experience. Very rewarding.”

Race car driver and ‘Dancing With the Stars’ contestant Helio Castroneves must appear in a Miami courtroom today to face federal charges of tax evasion and conspiracy. According to reports, his sister and business manager, Katiucia, and his attorney, Alan Miller, were also indicted.

If the Brazilian driving champ can’t Tango his way out of this tight corner, he could face some serious prison time if convicted. And hand over a lot of money to the US government.

Paris Hilton appeared on ABC’s morning bitchfest ‘The View’ Thursday to try and promote her new MTV reality show “My New BFF”. But co-host Joy Behar – who’s motto is “attack all guests” – wasn’t buying what she was selling. Instead, she took her shots by ripping into the heiress and labeling her a convicted felon – which Paris is not.

Paris punched back and things got frosty from then on. It’s amazing that anybody ever agrees to go on this stupid show to be ruthlessly attacked by these bitches.

Demi Lovato’s upcoming Disney Channel TV show is called Sonny With A Chance, reports Spanish magazine Para Todos.

“It’s about a girl named Sonny having a chance to make it in [show] business,” the 16-year-old Camp Rock star tells the mag. “We filmed the first episode and we will continue to film the series through the next few months.”

Five reality-show hosts opened the lamest Emmy Awards show in history Sunday night but it wasn’t so bad after all. As it turns out – there was no TV viewing audience tuned in to watch the live trainwreck.

On his radio show Monday, Ryan Seacrest explained why their un-scripted, ad-libbed, opening monologue was lame: “For a while, we didn’t have anything until we came up with the fact that our ’something’ was ‘nothing.’ . . . And once finally I realized that we had nothing and that ‘nothing’ was being honest, and that was real . . . we actually, we were good. . . . I say we were ‘good’ not in terms of ‘I thought we were great,’ I’m just saying we were done, we did it, we’re good, we’re out. We were good, we’re good — right?”
