It’s been speculated that pop tart Britney Spears took one look at her newborn niece Maddie last month, realized her 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn was a new mom to a little girl, and had some kind of mental or emotional “breakdown.”

She cut short her trip to Mississippi and flew back to LA. A source says that for the next two days, Brit was “a bit dazed and distant”, and wouldn’t answer any of her dad’s questions and “had no enthusiasm for anything”.

Congrats to Jamie Lynn Spears who had a caesarean and popped out the lil cheeto today. The little girl born to the 17-year-old and her 19 year old fiancée Casey Aldridge has been named Maddie Briann.

“Just the family was there,” says a source about the birth around 9:30 a.m. at a hospital in Mississippi, near her Louisiana hometown. “Everyone is healthy and happy.”

Despite her mental state reportedly improving, Britney Spears is still incapable of handling her own estate – her lawyer claims.

The pop superstar was deemed unfit to look after her own legal and financial affairs earlier this year following a short stay in a psychiatric facility, with her father Jamie becoming conservator.

But this week, an LA court was told that Spears is still not well enough to participate in legal proceedings, with her lawyer saying the stars doctor hopes to carry out “additional testing in the not-too-distant future”.

Brit and her bodyguard were going down Ventura Boulevard in her Mercedes when she rear-ended another car in heavy traffic. Britney Spears’ dad wants his superstar daughter to ditch her pop career to become an actress, according to reports.

Jamie Spears, who is currently conservator of Britney’s estate, is looking into acting opportunities for the pop tart following her successful stint on the show ‘How I Met Your Mother’.

“Britney did a great job on How I Met Your Mother. She got the show its highest ratings yet, but more importantly for Jamie, he wants his daughter at a normal 9-to-5 job to keep her working and out of trouble,” a source told the New York Post.
