Jessica Simpson has been axed as co-host on her lil’ sister Ashlee Simpson’s new chat show because its producers want a monkey to take her place.

“Ashlee is working on a new chat show for a top US network,” a source has revealed.
“She has a strong following among the new rock kids, especially as she and [boyfriend Pete Wentz] are the hottest couple right now - that’s the demographic they’re after.
“Ashlee rather loyally wanted Jessica to be her co-host. But bosses weren’t keen as Jessica is seen as a bit naff. She’s older and linked to a different world of celebrity.”

The TMZ website is reporting that an unscheduled hearing was held yesterday at the L.A. County Superior Court to investigate Britney Spears for possible child abuse. The accusations do not involve physical mistreatment of the kids, but the pop tart stands accused of giving her babies, Sean Preston, 22 months and Jayden James, 9 months, a questionable diet (sugary drinks) and keeping them up late at night.

Owen Wilson has asked for time to “heal in private” following reports he’d been taken to hospital after trying to kill himself.
“I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time,” the 38-year-old said.
Firemen and police officers were called to Wilson’s home and transported a person to a local hospital for treatment over the weekend, a Santa Monica fire department spokesperson said. The fire official did not name the person.

Willa Ford wed pro hockey player Mike Modano in Texas this weekend, her manager has announced.
The 26-year-old singer/actress walked down the aisle in a dress she had designed herself.
Willa and Mike dated on-and-off for over four years before he proposed last Thanksgiving. At the time of the proposal, Willa was rumoured to be dating her ‘Dancing with the Stars’ partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
“Everybody thought it was going to be Maks!” Ford said at the time.

David and Victoria Beckham are looking after their kids by themselves in Los Angeles, after their two nannies had enough of being treated like “skivvies” and quit.
The nannies, who were hired to look after eight-year-old Brooklyn, four-year-old Romeo and two-year-old Cruz, reportedly had enough of being treated like crap by the celeb couple.
“You’d imagine it’s a dream job working for celebrities like that in California. But these two trained professionals said it was a nightmare,” a source says.

Actor Owen Wilson was hospitalized Sunday afternoon in Santa Monica after a a relative found him stumbling down a street and called 911. The Butterscotch Stallion had apparently slit his left wrist and had taken a number of pills. He was taken to a local hospital.

DMX’s home has been raided by police, who found 12 neglected dogs and a number of guns.
Police removed the pit bull terriers, who had been left without food and water, and found the buried bodies of three others after digging up the back yard.
DMX says he had not been at the Arizona for at least two months and a caretaker was left to look after the dogs.
“We had a caretaker that wasn’t taking care, that’s what happened,” DMX’s lawyer, Murray Richman, said.
